Navarro County court records in Texas are available through several channels. NavarroCourt.us allows you to search for public court case information online. Additionally, the official county website, the offices of the district and county clerks, and public terminals in the courthouse offer access to records. Below is a practical guide to the court system, hearing schedules, obtaining document copies, and related fees.

Navarro Court System & Jurisdictions

The county operates several levels of courts, each handling specific categories of cases. Understanding this structure will help determine where to search for the needed court record.

District Court (13th Judicial District) is the main court for serious cases. It handles criminal felony cases, civil lawsuits over $200,000, divorce and child custody cases, and parental rights termination suits. Records are maintained by the District Clerk. Appeals from this court are directed to the Tenth Court of Appeals of Texas.

County Court at Law handles civil cases with claims from $200.01 to $200,000, criminal misdemeanor cases, appeals from justice of the peace courts, and some probate matters. According to Chapter 26 of the Texas Government Code, the Navarro County Court also has general jurisdiction over probate matters.

Probate cases include wills, guardianship appointments, and estate administration of deceased persons. These records are kept by the County Clerk.

Justice of the Peace Courts operate in several precincts of the county. They handle:

  • Civil claims up to $20,000 (small claims)
  • Eviction cases
  • Traffic violations and minor offenses
  • Hearings on preventive measures

Information on working hours and contacts for justices of the peace can be found on the Justice of the Peace page. Traffic fines can be paid online through the official county website by searching with a last name and date of birth.
